Robert Pattinson leaves The Twilight Saga behind him in early 2012 with his new movie Bel Ami.

Yes it's great to see him leave the franchise behind as he tackles a more period piece with his new project.

And we have the first trailer for the movie for you to take a look at:

Based on the novel by Guy de Maupassant the movie chronicles the rise of penniless ex-soldier Georges Duroy (Pattinson) through the echelons of the 1890s Parisian elite and is a tale of ambition, power and seduction.

Directed by Declan Donnellan & Nick Ormerod the movie sees Pattinson joined by an all star line up that includes Christina Ricci, Kristen Scott Thomas and Uma Thurman.

Bel Ami kicks off a busy year for Pattinson as we will also be seeing him lead the cast in Cosmopolis as well as returning to the role of Edward Cullen for the final time.

Bel Ami is released 2nd March
