Ray Winstone is a popular actor who, since launching his career in 1976, has worked successfully in both television and movie roles.

Born in Hackney in London Winstone become a pupil at the Corona Stage Academy in Hammersmith as he pursued his acting dreams.

Dancing and singing badly his theatre career didn't last long and he moved into television when he landed a role on The Sweeney.

The lead role in Alan Clarke's 1979 film Scum, depicted the brutality inside a British borstal followed.

His role in acclaimed 1980s British series Robin of Sherwood as Will Scarlet was a major breakthrough for the actor.

The show ran for three series and is still regarded as one of the best adaptations of the original Robin Hood legend.

A string of television roles followed throughout the nineties until he landed the role of Ray in Gary Oldman's Nil By Mouth.
