Although Robert Pattinson may have got pulses racing in last year's vampire hit movie Twilight he is not the first super hot actor to take on this sort of role.

And in a recent poll it seems that young Mr Pattison wasn't the top choice when it came to voting for who was the sexiest on screen vampire so lets take a look at who piped him to the top  spot.

30% voted for Brad Pitt - Interview with the Vampire

Released in 1994 Interview with the Vampire was an adaptation of Anne Rice's novel and the film cemented Pitt as an actor to keep an eye on, as well as all the girls falling in love with him all over again.

Pitt's character Louis de Pointe du Lac began life as a mortal man before becoming a vampire.

24% Robert Pattinson - Twilight

The unknown Robert Pattinson shot to fame at the end of last year when he took on the role of Edward Cullen in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyers' novel Twilight.

The film saw Edward fall in love with a human girl Bella. Twilight made Pattinson an international star and an immediate pin-up, he is currently filming the sequel New Moon.

13% Gary Oldman - Bram Stoker’s Dracula

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola Bram Stoker's Dracula was released back in 1992 and was based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Oldman took on the role of Dracula leading the ensemble cast of Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder and Anthony Hopkins. Despite some criticism of how loyal the film remained to the book it was a box office hit.

10% David Boreanaz - Angel / Buffy the Vampire Slayer

David Boreanaz burst onto out television screens as Angel,a vampire with a soul, in hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a love interest for Sarah Michelle Gellar's Buffy throughout the first three seasons.

But he left Buffy to go and amend for his sins appearing again in his own spin off series Angel. The series saw him work as a private detective through the first four season while taking on evil demons.

8% Jason Patric - The Lost Boys

In 1987's The Lost Boys Jason Patric took on the role of Michael Emmerson, who had moved to California with his brother Sam.

At first, Sam laughs off rumours he hears about vampires who inhabit the small town. But after Mike meets a beautiful girl at the local amusement park, he begins to exhibit the classic signs of vampirism.
Fearing for his own safety, Sam recruits two young vampire hunters to save his brother by finding and destroying the head vampire.

7% Kiefer Sutherland - The Lost Boys

Sutherland starred alongside Patric as David, the head of the local gang, who just so happen to be a bunch of vampires.

He tricks Michael into drinking vampire blood before accepting him into the gang.

5% Antonio Banderas - Interview with the Vampire

Another appearance for Interview with the Vampire this time for Antonio Banderas who took on the role of Armand, who lives in Paris.

With a great cast and Neil Jordan behind the camera the movie was a box office hit.

And Tom Cruise brings up the rear with 3% also for Interview with the Vampire.

Twilight is out on DVD and Blu-ray from Monday 6 April 2009.
