Filming is expected to get underway later this month.
- Robert De Niro is rumoured to be in the final stages of talks to join the cast of Edge of Darkness, which will be directed by Mel Gibson in his first picture since Apocalypto.
The Film Follows homicide detective Thomas Craven, played by Gibson, who, after the murder of his daughter, uncovers a government and corporate cover-up.
De Niro will take on the role of CIA operative Darius Jedburgh whose job it is to destroy the evidence.
Filming is due to get underway in September.
- John Goodman is back on Soenke Wortmann's project Pope Joan after settling a legal dispute with Constantin Film.
The film follows a ninth century woman who, when disguised as a man, manages to ascend to the papal throne.
Goodman will take on the role of Pope Sergius while 300 and Lord of the Rings' actor David Wenham has been cast as Knight Gerold, Joan's love interest.
- Fresh from giving birth to twins actress Jennifer Lopez is to return to the big screen in romantic comedy The Governess.
Directed by Nigel Cole, who brought us Calendar Girls, the film follows a professional thief who, to pull of a bank heist, takes on the role of nanny to a widowers three children.
However things everything doesn't go to plan when she begins to fall the father and bonds with the children.
- Nicolas Cage and director John Carpenter are believed to be the final stages of negotiations to team up for new thriller Scared Straight.
The film revolves around a young man who is sent to prison as part of the Scared Straight crime prevention programme, which was put in place to deter crime by imprisoning people for a short period of time.
While the teenager is doing his spell in prison an riot breaks out and a lifer, played by Cage, helps the young man.
