Character: Ryan Bingham in Up In The Air 

Film: Ryan Bingham's job is to fire people from theirs. The anguish, hostility, and despair of his "clients" has left him falsely compassionate, living out of a suitcase, and loving every second of it.

When his boss hires arrogant young Natalie, she develops a method of video conferencing that will allow termination without ever leaving the office - essentially threatening the existence Ryan so cherishes.

Determined to show the naive girl the error of her logic, Ryan takes her on one of his cross country firing expeditions, but as she starts to realize the disheartening realities of her profession, he begins to see the downfalls to his way of life

Previous Golden Globe Wins:  Clooney has two previous Golden Globe wins: Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for O Brother, Where Art Thou? And Best Supporting Actor for Syriana.

Previous Golden Globe Nominations:  He also has three other nominations: Best Actor – Television Series Drama, 1995, 1996, 1997 for ER.

He was also nominated Best Screenplay for good Night and Good Luck and Best Actor for Michael Clayton.

Award/Nominations for role: So far Clooney has been done well on the awards circuit picking up Best Actor awards at the national Board of Review, Washington D.C. Film Critics Association and the New York film Critics Circle.

He has also been nominated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, broadcast Film critics Association, Chicago Film Critics Association and the Satellite Awards.
