Jason Statham In Safe

Jason Statham In Safe

The Stath has become the ultimate Swiss Army action hero with a CV of job roles that would make a recruitment agent shiver!

Jason Statham explodes back on to our cinema screens on May 4th in SAFE where he plays ex-Government agent Luke Wright.   In Safe Statham adds some serious work experience to his resume.

Starting off as a second-rate cage fighter in New Jersey, he blows a rigged fight and the Russian Mafia make an example of him - murdering his wife and threatening to kill anyone he forms any kind of friendship or relationship with.

The Stath, now homeless, destitute and completely isolated from society, wanders the streets of New York, hovering on the edge of suicide.

Standing on a subway platform ready to throw himself under a train, he sees a young and terrified Chinese girl being pursued by Russian thugs... It’s time for the Stath to take a new job - redeem his life, take down the Russian Mafia, the Triads and New York City’s corrupt officials, and become the hardest child-minder on the planet!

Here we take a look at Jason’s best roles and why he is the only man for the job!

1. Crank - Jason Statham is Chev Cheillios

Role: As one of the West Coast’s top hit men, Chev Cheillois is taught to expect the unexpected but even he couldn’t prepare for what was going to happen next.

Cheillois is injected by his enemies with the 'Beijing Cocktail', a drug which inhibits the flow of adrenaline to the adrenal glands and slowly kills its victims, UNLESS they keep their adrenaline high.

What makes him the only man for the job?  In order to keep his adrenaline up, Cheillois commits robberies, breaks into a hospital to use the defibrillator and has sex with his girlfriend in the middle of Chinatown.

The Stath manages to accomplish all this, defeat the baddies and save his girlfriend all in one day - teaching the world the true meaning of Carpe Diem!

2. The Transporter- Jason Statham is Frank Martin

Role: Frank is a former soldier enjoying his quiet and lonely lifestyle in France. Always a party of one, Frank takes on a career as a 'transporter' - handling anything from goods to people for one destination to the next.

While Frank will take anything, he sets rules for himself to ensure maximum detachment from the situation. However, these rules are challenged when he discovers an attractive woman tied up in one of his packages.

What makes him the only man for the job? Up until this point, Frank Martin was a man of his word following his three strict rules: #1 A deal is a deal and it should not be changed #2 No names involved #3 Never look inside the package.

When Frank discovers the beautiful Lai though, the rules don’t matter anymore. The Stath proves that he can successfully mix business with pleasure with a side dose of murder. Only he can make human trafficking and BMW’s look this good!

3. The Mechanic - Jason Statham is Arthur Bishop

Role: As one of the stealthiest hit men around, Arthur Bishop knows the meaning of without a trace.

He is undeniably good at getting away with his murders by making them all look like accidents, and stays completely detached in the process.

However, when Bishop’s mentor Harry is murdered it becomes personal and Bishop gains a protégé in Harry’s revenge-seeking son Steve.

What makes him the only man for the job? Bishop makes all his murders look effortless, be it is the accidental drowning, the carjacking or even the heart attack. Thinking of everything, Statham gets sexier and more brilliant with each scene and is the classiest hit man in history.

4. The Expendables - Jason Statham is Lee Christmas

Role: Lee Christmas is a vital member of the expendables, a group of five mercenaries who are sent on a mission to take on a corrupt military leader off the coast of Mexico.

While they may not always see eye to eye, this ace team ultimately must work together to complete their mission.

What makes him the only man for the job? The Stath shines amongst notorious badasses such as Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarznegger, proving himself as a team player as well as a stand-alone hero.

Saving the world? Just a casual day in the life of Jason Statham.

5. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - Jason Statham is Bacon

Role: When a card game goes horribly wrong, Bacon and his friends have to find £500,000 to save their bar, their reputation and their friend’s fingers!

The men decide the best course of action is to steal the money from their neighbours and the film follows them on their hilarious attempts to complete the heist successfully.

What makes him the only man for the job? Statham plays the clown in this movie, but is there for his mates when needed. Witty and sly, the Stath ultimately gets the job done!
