Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

2012 has been a great year all around for movies and performances and we have been looking at some of the actresses that have really caught put eye this year.

But there has been one actress that really has stood out from the crowd and that is the fantastic Jennifer Lawrence.

Lawrence grabbed everyone’s attention a couple of years ago when she picked up a Best Actress Oscar nomination for Winter’s Bone but this year has seen her star rocket even further.

She has mixed and matched her genres this year as she went from dram to blockbuster to horror and she kicked off the year with Like Crazy.

But it was this summer where she really grabbed everyone’s attention as she took on the role of Katniss Everdeen as The Hunger Games was adapted for the big screen.

Lawrence is just perfect as Katniss and it's great to see a really strong heroine grace the big screen.

But she is a heroine with a heart and this makes her connect with an audience as you are rooting for her to succeed from the word go.

The movie was a box office small as it grossed well in excess of $600 million world wide and the next two instalments are set to be just as fantastic.

She moved onto the horror movie with House at the End of the Street - which was the first time that had tackled this genre.

But it is with her final role of the year as Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook that she has once again wowed the critics.

The movie is an adaptation of the Matthew Quick novel and saw her team up with actor Bradley Cooper and director David O.Russell.

Tiffany is probably the most complex and interesting character who is fiery and at times dark and yet under the surface she is a character with a large heart that is looking for companionship in someone.

Lawrence gives just a knockout performance that cements as a true acting force and she deserves all of the praise that has been coming her way.

She has bagged an Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy nomination at the Golden Globes and she is a major Oscar contender and you can expect her to be in the running once again.

And we will be seeing plenty of Lawrence on the big screen next year as she is currently filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

It is the second novel to be adapted for the big screen and it promises to be the bigger and better than the first - it is already one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2013.

She is also set to team up with Bradley Cooper once again for drama Serena, in which she takes on the title role, and it follows a couple who cannot have children.

Filming is also set to get underway on X-Men: Days of Future Past where Lawrence will reprise the role of Mystique. The movie is a sequel to X-Men: First Class and will see the actress reunite with Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy while Bryan Singer is in the director’s chair.

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the brightest young stars shining in Hollywood at the moment and she is only going one way… and that is up.
