He upsets his direct boss Lawrence Maddox and tries to make amends by hiring a stripper to dance for Lawrence during a staff meeting. Sidney, of course, doesn't stop there, finding creative ways to annoy nearly everyone.

His saving graces: a rising, sexy starlet develops an odd affection for him, and in time, Alison whose friendship with him might be the only thing saving Sidney from torpedoing his career.

However the movie struggled with the critics and failed to make back it's production budget.

And the world of journalism was on the big screen earlier this year as State of Play got a movie revamp with an impressive cast list of Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren.

Crowe stars as Cal McCaffrey, an old-school-style journalist working for the Washington Globe. He begins to investigate the death of a young woman who was the research assistant and mistress of his friend Stephen Collins (Affleck), an ambitious congressman whose career is likely ruined when his affair is revealed.

Joined by young political blogger Della Frye (McAdams), Cal races against time and deadlines to solve the murder, which may be only a small part of a much larger crime.

State of Play was a big hit with the critics and is one of the best political thrillers to grace the big screen so far this year.

It's the cast that really makes this movie what it is, in particular Crowe who plays McAffrey the street smart and old school journalist who strives for nothing but the truth.

Stubborn McAffrey holds on to his journalism methods of collecting the facts before jumping to conclusions and struggles with partner for the story Della, who is very much a modern journalist.

Other movies that have journalism at the heart and worth a watch include The Pelican Brief, Veronica Guerin and Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas.

The Men Who Stare At Goats is released 6th November.
