It was a busy weekend for Kathryn Bigelow with both the Golden Globe Awards and the LA Film Critics Association Awards.
And despite missing out at the Golden Globes last night the weekend wasn’t a complete disappointment for Bigelow as she was the toast of tinsel town at the LA Film Critics Association Awards.
She once again picked up the gong for Best Director for her movie The Hurt Locker, the Iraq drama also picked up Best Picture.
The Hurt Locker has been picked up awards all over the show and with Avatar taking home the Best Picture Drama at the Golden Globes it looks like a two horse race for the Oscar.
Yolande Moreau picked up the Best Actress award for her role in Seraphine. Jeff Bridges’ mantle piece will be sagging under the weight of all the awards he has picked up in recent weeks as he took home Best Actor.
It’s been a great weekend for Bridges as he also picked up the Golden Globe strengthening his chances of taking home the Oscar.
The supporting gongs were a little more predictable as Mo’Nique took home Best Supporting Actress for her role in Precious while Christoph Waltz took home Best Supporting Actor for Inglourious Basterds.
Neill Blomkamp took home the New Generation gong for his feature film debut District 9 while the sci-fi movie also won the award for Production Design.
There was a shock win in the Best Animation category for Fantastic Mr Fox, despite Up being the run away favourite for the Oscar.
