Matt Lanter made a name for himself in the shortlived ABC political drama Commander in Chief as Horace Calloway before moving onto Heroes, CSI and Grey's Anatomy.

After finding success in television he moved over into movies and the Star Wars universe as he voiced Anakin Skywalker in The Clone Wars. His latest film sees him play Will in spoof film Disaster Movie.

I caught up with him to discuss the new film, his difficult time on set and what lies ahead.

Hi Matt hope you are well what have you been up to lately?

I’m doing very well thank you. Aside from launching Disaster Movie, I’ve actually just wrapped up a horror feature film called Sorority Row. It's a horror movie about a killer on the loose picking off sorority girls one by one, which is always fun. Haha.

Disaster Movie is about to be released here in the UK can you tell me a little bit about it?

Disaster Movie is a fun story about a group of friends who are on a mission and encounter all kinds of crazy stuff along the way. I play Will Jones, our main 'hero.' Throughout the movie a series of natural disasters and catastrophic events strike the city, as that happens my character loses his girlfriend Amy and goes to find her and chaos ensues...lol. Expect random jokes, pop culture references, crazy characters and an overall good time!

And what was it about this script and the character of Will that drew you to the project?

I actually love these particular kinds of movies and always have. I have a pretty goofy sense of humour and really grew up watching the spoof genre of movies. I loved the Scary Movies, Hot Shots films, The Naked Gun franchise and even back to Monty Python. There’s just something so carefree and fun that makes them attractive.

In Disaster Movie Will is the true hero character a hero in the realm of spoofs at least! He’s not necessarily the sharpest tool in the shed, but he is the glue in his wacky group of friends and just an all around good guy.

You filmed alongside Vanessa Minnillo, Kim Kardashian and Carmen Electra that must have been difficult for you? How was the filming process?

Well firstly, it’s obviously not fun working with a group of such repulsive women. I mean really, couldn’t they have cast some hotter girls haha. No they were great! I think we all had a lot of fun on set and definitely goofed off 24/7. When you’re filming on location in a completely foreign place for months at a time, you’ve got to have some cool people to chill with on and off the set. We had that in Jason and Aaron and on down through the cast and crew which really made the experience enjoyable.

Filming was truly a blast and unforgettable. I mean there were days when we were just slap happy and had tears rolling down our faces from some of the improv takes and goof ups. We had so many comics in the cast, that you never knew what you were gonna get. We would usually get a few takes by the script and then we were free to improv and play around!
