The American

The American

Now I must admit I am the impatient kind and seeing all the potentially great movies lining up over the next four or five months makes me want to see them all now.

But sadly I, along with everyone else, are just going to have to wait until these movies finally roll into cinemas. We have already taken a look at some of the upcoming releases that have to be a must see but it doesn't stop there!

- The American - In recent years George Clooney has showed that he is a real acting heavyweight with the likes of Good Night & Good Luck, which he also directed, Michael Clayton and Up In The Air, picking up Best Director and Best Actor nods along the way.

And he could be in for another as The American is his latest project which sees him team up with Control filmmaker Anton Corbijn - could it be another Oscar nomination for the actor?

Alone among assassins, Jack is a master craftsman. When a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, he vows to his contact Larry that his next assignment will be his last.

Jack reports to the Italian countryside, where he holes up in a small town and relishes being away from death for a spell. The assignment, as specified by a Belgian woman, Mathilde, is in the offing as a weapon is constructed.

Surprising himself, Jack seeks out the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto and pursues romance with local woman Clara. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate.

The American is released 26th November.

- Buried - Ryan Reynolds is one of the busiest actors currently working in Hollywood and in between his big budget projects of Green Lantern and Deadpool the actor has teamed up with Rodrigo Cortés, who is making his first movie in three years.

Shot on a shoe string budget and in just three weeks Reynolds has admitted that it was one of the toughest shoots that he has ever been on - claustrophobics may want to give this one a miss!

Paul is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.

We are all used to seeing Reynolds in the light hearted romantic comedies but Buried looks set to show the actor in a whole different light.

- Monsters - This time last year we were all raving about sci-fi movie District 9, which was one of the best movies of 2009 and went on be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

Twelve months later and it looks like we have a couple of movies on the horizon that could cause a similar frenzy and Monsters is one of them.

Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America.

Soon after, new life form began to appear and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain "the creatures"......

Our story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.

The movie if the first feature film for Gareth Edwards, who has also penned the script, and much like District 9 has a virtually unknown cast.

Monsters is released 12th November.

- Skyline - And Skyline is the second sci-fi film that could send shivers down our spine later this year after it caught everyone's attention at Comic Con just a few weeks back.

From what we have seen of the movie so far it looks visually stunning, and it's one that I really can't wait for!

After a late night party, a group of friends are awoken in the dead of the night by an eerie light beaming through the window.

Like moths to a flame, the light source is drawing people outside before they suddenly vanish into the air. They soon discover an otherwordly force is swallowing the entire human population off the face of the earth.

Now our band of survivors must fight for their lives as the world unravels around them.

- The Adjustment Bureau - Matt Damon has already had one awesome movie out this year in the form of Green Zone, you really should check it out if you haven't already, so you can imagine my disappointment when The Adjustment Bureau got pushed back to next year.

George Nolfi is in the director's chair for the movie which sees Damon team up with British actress Emily Blunt, who seems to be working none stop at the moment.

On the brink of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate, ambitious politician David Norris meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas -- a woman like none he's ever known.

But just as he realizes he's falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart. David learns he is up against the agents of Fate itself -- the men of The Adjustment Bureau -- who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together.

In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path... or risk everything to defy Fate and be with her.

- The Conspirator - Robert Redford's latest directorial offering may still be looking for a distributor but hopefully all those trouble will be solved in the next few days as the movie screens at the Toronto International Film festival.

It's hard to believe that a movie that boasts a cast list of James McAvoy, Robin Wright Penn, Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood, Tom Wilkinson would have any trouble... but apparently that is not the case.

In the wake of Abraham Lincoln's assassination, seven men and one woman are arrested and charged with conspiring to kill the President, the Vice-President, and the Secretary of State.

The lone woman charged, Mary Surratt, 42, owns a boarding house where John Wilkes Booth and others met and planned the simultaneous attacks. Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer, Frederick Aiken, a 28-year-old Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt before a military tribunal.

As the trial unfolds, Aiken realizes his client may be innocent and that she is being used as bait and hostage in order to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt, her own son.

Other movies that we should all be keeping an eye out for include The Debt, another movie for Sam Worthington, The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg's boxing movie should finally get to the big screen, as well as Brighton Rock, Another Year,  Battle Los Angeles and who can forget Tron: Legacy?
