Screen Actors Guild Award Predictions

The excitement of the Oscar nominations has barely settled when the stars will once again walk down the red carpet on Sunday night for the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The actors and movies that find themselves nominated at Sunday night's ceremony are a virtual carbon copy of Thursday's Oscar nomination and should be a great indicator as to who will win what next month.
So here at FemaleFirst I took a look at the nominations to try and make a prediction as to who will what at Sunday's ceremony.
The surprise in the Best Actor category is there's no Leonardo DiCaprio, replace by Richard Jenkins for The Visitor. But he is joined by Brad Pitt, Mickey Rourke, Sean Penn, Frank Langella who have all featured heavily over recent weeks at the various award ceremonies.
While Penn and Rourke have shared the gongs the SAG will probably follow in the footsteps of The Golden Globes and award Mickey Rourke the gong.
The Best Actress category is also a repeat of may other awards of late with Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Melissa Leo, Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet al up for the award.
Despite all the buzz currently being around Kate Winslet her role in Revolutionary Road has not been as well received as her role in The Reader and the gong will go to Anne Hathaway.
The Screen Actors Guild will, more than likely, follow the trend in the Best Supporting Actor category giving Heath ledger yet another award for his role as The Joker.
And much like the Golden Globes there is a double nomination for Kate Winslet as she finds herself nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Reader and is more likely to win that gong than the Best Actress trophy, a double is unlikely.
While there is no Best Picture category here the ensemble cast award will probably be fought out between Milk and Slumdog Millionaire, both have scooped several best Picture gongs elsewhere.
I also predict some further success for The Dark Knight in the Ensemble Stunts category.
Full list of predictions:
Best Actor - Mickey Rourke
Best Actress - Anne Hathaway
Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger
Best Supporting Actress - Kate Winslet
Ensemble Cast - Milk
Ensemble Stunts - The Dark Knight
The winners will be announced January 25th.

I was so happy when Meryl Streep won at the SAG awards. I thought she would be overlooked again. I hope she wins the oscar. She deserves it.

I agree. I've seen these performances, and while they are all wonderfully amazing, Meryl just stood out to me. Don't get me wrong, Kate was extraordinary. But I get the feeling that peo... Read More
