Worst Movies of 2011: 7 - Season Of The Witch

Nicolas Cage may be able to say he one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood but Christ on a bike he has made some rubbish this year.

And, unfortunately for him Season of the Witch is one of them and it has made our Worst Movies of 2011 list at number seven.

The movie follows a heroic Crusader and his fellow soldier who must transport a woman accused of being a witch to a remote monastery.

The arduous journey across perilous terrain tests their strength and courage as they discover the girl's secret and find themselves battling a terrifyingly powerful force that will determine the fate of the world.

A movie with Crusaders and witches with the fate of the world at stake sounds like an exciting watch yes? Well let me inform you it isn’t - dull as dishwater!

Sadly the main problem with this movie is the script - nothing happens in it except a very unexciting medieval road trip.

The witch is not as menacing as you would expect in a movie like this and there’s no air of menace from this character that is suppose to be the major threat in the film.

2010 brought a great movie in this genre in the form of Solomon Kane that has excitement and action at every turn - go and watch this instead as Season of the Witch pales in comparison.

You would expect an actor like Nicholas Cage to bring a certain amount of panache and presence to a movie but he brings absolutely nothing to the table - it’s as if he is just reading the lines and nothing more.

The movie finale sees the special effects boys take over and the CGI really is as disappointing as the rest of the movie - but by this point you won’t really care.

The only thing you will remember about this movie is how bad it is - avoid it like the plague!!
