Shawn Levy returns to the director's chair this week with his new movie Real Steel, which sees him team up with Hugh Jackman.

This is the first directorial outing for Levy since comedy Date Night last year, but this movie has already topped the box office in the States.

Levy made his directorial debut back in 2002 with Big Fat Liar but it was JUst Married twelve months later that proved to be his breakthrough.

The movie, which starred Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy, was met with a string of poor reviews but it was the #1 movie in the U.S. for four weeks.

He then mixed his movie work with TV moving from films such as The Pink Panther and Cheaper By The Dozen to TV movies The Deerings and Joint Custody.

The biggest hit for the filmmaker came in 2006 when he took on Night at the Museum, which starred Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais and Steve Coogan.

The movie followed Larry, a newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History who discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc.

The movie was a massive box office hit and went on to gross over $574 at the global box office and a sequel followed in 2009.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian saw Stiller reprise his central role while Ricky Gervais and Robin Williams also returned.

The movie didn't quite do as well as the first but a worldwide gross of over $413 million made it a hit.

He returned last year with another comedy project Date Night, which starred Tina Fey and Steve Carell.

But this week is swaps comedy for action as he brings robot boxing to the big screen in Real Steel.

Set in the near future, where robot boxing is a top sport, a struggling promoter feels he's found a champion in a discarded robot.

During his hopeful rise to the top, he discovers he has an 11-year-old son who wants to know his father.

Levy has plans to return to TV with another film Family Album, a project that is currently in post production.
