Sparkle

Sparkle

Every year is this is one standout musical film and in 2012 Sparkle looks set to be that movie.

If Motown music is your thing then it seems that Sparkle will be just up your street as singer Jordin Sparks makes her big screen debut with the movie.

The film is also set to be an emotional one for all Whitney Houston fans as this is the final project that she worked on before she passed away earlier this year.

And we have an exclusive clip for you to enjoy ahead of the movie's release next week:

Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter play Sparks' sisters in the movie while Derek Luke and Mike Epps are also set to star.

Set in the 1960's director Salmin Akil has really caught the look, the essence and the struggle of the time and brought it to life with some unforgettable music.

This is a first movie outing for Akil since Jumping The Broom last year as he concentrated on his TV project The Game.

Musical prodigy, Sparkle (Jordin Sparks) struggles to become a star while overcoming issues that are tearing her family apart.

From an affluent Detroit area and daughter to a single mother (Whitney Houston), she tries to balance a new romance with music manager, Stix (Derek Luke) while dealing with the unexpected challenges her new life will bring as she and her two sisters (Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter) strive to become a dynamic singing group during the Motown-era

Sparkle is released 5th October
