Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner

To say that Taylor Lautner has shot to fame in recent months would be a little bit of an understatement as the teenager has become one the biggest young stars to currently grace the big screen.

While the actor has made his name in the Twilight Saga as Jacob Black he kicked off his acting career back in 2001.

As many to he began in TV in the movie Shadow Fury. He went on to appear in The Bernie Mac Show, My Wife and Kids and Summerland.

He made his big screen debut in 2005 with Cheaper By The Dozen 2 before moving onto another big screen venture in the form of The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D.

After several other TV projects after Sharkboy and Lavagirl he moved back to the big screen with Twilight, the first of the Stephenie Meyer novels to be adapted for the big screen.

Lautner landed the role of Bella's childhood friend Jacob Black and despite only a handful of minutes on screen he became one of the young stars to keep an eye on.

He returned to the role a year later for New Moon, which focuses on Jacob's transformation story.

Second time around it was a bigger role for Lautner, who almost was replaced over concerns that he would not be able to bulk up for the role.

But the teenager hit the gym to undertake some extensive weight training and pile on thirty pounds.

A People's Choice Award for Favourite Breakout Actor came his way and Lautner, along with his co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, was a household name.

And he's back on the big screen this week as part of Valentine's Day's ensemble cast, which also stars Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway.

The movie follows intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles break-up and make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine's Day.

And it looks like the actor's star is set to rise even further with a string on roles on the horizon for him.

He will reprise the role of Jacob this summer in Eclipse, the third novel in the Twilight Saga to be adapted for the big screen.

And it looks like the fourth book, Breaking Dawn could possibly in the pipeline.

Away from Twilight the teenager is in demand he is set to star alongside Tom Cruise in Northern Lights.

He has recently confirmed to play extreme sports star-turned-secret agent Max Steel and it looks like Stretch Armstrong is also coming his way.

Valentine's Day is released 12th February.
