The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises

The summer blockbuster season is almost upon us once more - and there will be no movie bigger then The Dark Knight Rises.

Not only will Christopher Nolan's third Batman instalment be the biggest movie of the summer but it will also be one of the biggest movies of the year - I smell a billion dollar hit!!

To say that there is excitement surrounding the release of this movie would be a bit of an understatement as it has been four years since The Dark Knight blew everyone who saw it away and raised the bar when it came to the superhero genre.

So the question on everyone's lips is... can it be equalled or bettered?

I think it's fair to say that Nolan would not have returned to the director's chair if he didn't feel that he could surpass the 2008 movie - and the trailer is enough to get you excited.

Christian Bale will return as Bruce Wayne for what will be the third and final time as he, along with Nolan, will walk away from the franchise this summer.

And while he may have had his hands full with the Joker it looks like he will face his biggest challenge in this movie as he comes face to face with Bane.

Now Bane is not a Batman character that I claim to know much about but Tom Hardy looks fantastic in early trailers and images that have been released.

Hardy has already made quite a name for himself as late but this role really could see his star rocket.

There may have been some fuss about not being able to hear him properly because of the face mask when the trailer was released, personally I didn't see what all the fuss was about, but all that seems to have been ironed out now.

Other new faces on the cast list include Joseph Gordon Levitt, Marion Cotillard & Anne Hathaway - who looks super sexy in her catsuit.

Yes the Oscar nominated actress will follow in the footsteps of Michelle Pfeiffer & Halle Berry and take on the role of Catwoman, and you are never quite sure just whose side she is on.

But it's not all about new faces as Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman & Gary Oldman will reprise their role as Lucius Fox, Albert and Jim Gordon.

The movie is set eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and Batman, who took the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes and his death, is forced to resurface to protect Gotham city from Bane.

The Dark Knight Rises will be the movie to see this summer as Nolan and co are set to send this franchise out with a bang!!

The Dark Knight Rises is released 20th July.
