Having grossed over $102 million in it's first five days it was the highest first weekend total for a Harry Potter film and it went on to gross over $895 million at the global box office.

10. Spider-Man $39,406,872

2002 kicked off the boom in comic book adaptation as Spider-Man his the big screen with Tobey Maguire in the lead role as Peter Parker.

The adaptation of the Marvel Comic character was a massive box office success as it grossed over $821 million.
