Martin Freeman in The Hobbit

Now that the blockbuster summer is over we can really start looking ahead to the fantastic movies that will be coming our way this winter - and there will be no bigger movie than The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

For fans of Peter Jackson and The Lord of the Rings trilogy it has been a long wait to get The Hobbit to the big screen but now we only have a few more weeks to wait.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is one of the movies that I am most looking forward to this winter and we have some new images from the film for you to enjoy.

It was back in 2003 when we last visited Middle Earth and for the next three years we will once again be travelling there as The Hobbit is set to be split into three movies instead of the originally planned two.

Jackson is a visionary filmmaker and he will once again be bringing that world to life while Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens have had a hand in the script.

Martin Freeman leads an all star cast as he takes over the role of Bilbo Baggins while Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis are back as Gandalf and Gollum.

But they are not going to be the only familiar faces on the cast list as Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett and Orlando Bloom are also set to reprise their roles.

But there are plenty of new faces to enjoy as Richard Armitage is set to play Thorin Oakenshield and Luke Evans will take on the role of Bard.

While Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Billy Connolly, Aidan Turner and James Nesbitt have all also bagged roles.

The movie follows Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit, who journeys to the Lonely Mountain accompanied by a group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure taken from them by the dragon Smaug.
