The Mechanic

The Mechanic

Our generation’s favorite action hero, the peerless Jason Statham, returns to the screen 28 January 2011 in The Mechanic as the elite eliminator Arthur Bishop, who abides by a strict method when carrying out hits.

Movies have been fascinated with the art of contract killing for decades. In anticipation for The Mechanic’s version of the charismatic hit man, here are five of the coolest assassins on film and their preferred method of execution.

- The Transporter

The star of The Mechanic landed his first lead role in 2002’s action film The Transporter.  The film’s namesake is a driver, who will deliver anything anywhere directly, no questions asked.

His training as a former Special Forces officer gives him the ability to be a martial arts, vehicle, and weapons specialist. Want to hire the Transporter for your shipment needs?

Just adhere to his three rules: never change the deal, don’t use any names, and never make a promise you can’t keep. His services will be available to you for an astronomical fee.

- Anton Chigurh

Merciless hired hit man Anton Chigurh wreaks havoc on rural Texas in No Country for Old Men, all while sporting the most unsexiest bowl cut in history.

His weapon of choice is a bolt pistol, a gun commonly used to stun cows prior to slaughter. If Chigurh hunts you down, there is only one chance that you will escape unarmed. Leaving your life up to fate, Chigurh will flip a coin and if you 'Call it, friend-o,' he will spare you your life.

- The Bride

Codename 'Black Mamba,' the Bride is a former member of the 'Deadly Viper Assassination Squad' an elite group of deadly killers in Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2.

After abandoning the group, the Bride goes into hiding and creates a new identity. However, the Vipers find her, kill her fiancé, and shoot her, leaving her in a comatose state.

Four years later, she wakes, seeking revenge from the other Vipers. With a list of code names on a sheet of paper, a peerless katana, and the only Viper to master the 'Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique,' nothing will be able to stop the Bride in her yellow tracksuit.

- Jason Bourne

In The Bourne Identity a man wakes up on a fishing boat in Italy, suffering from acute amnesia, he goes on a global search to figure out who he is.

He discovers he is Jason Bourne, a former assassin for the CIA, and his former employer wants him dead.

If you’re on the run from the CIA, use Bourne’s techniques so you don’t get caught (they worked pretty well for him): never use your true identity, own multiple passports with a different alias for each, have a bank account in every country, become an expert in martial arts, technology, and weapons training, and avoid security cameras at all costs.

- Vincent

Tom Cruise, with silver locks, plays contact killer Vincent in Collateral, who hires a cabbie (Jamie Fox) to chauffeur him to his 'appointments.'

Little does the cabbie know, Vincent is referring to the 5 kills he must make during the night, listed on a paper in his precious briefcase.

Vincent is an impulsive killer; he goes with the flow, reacting to situations as they happen. He uses any kind of unique strategy to finish the job, including tossing a victim out of a window and on top of a taxi and breaking out into a gunfight in the middle of a club.

The Mechanic is released 28th January.
