To celebrate the DVD release of supernatural thriller Mirrors 2 we have compiled a list of our top 10 supernatural films.

1. The Omen (1976) - 1 of 2 demonic children films within our list The Omen tells the tale of an American Ambassador and the revelations that his son is actually the antichrist. As an ambassador that totally can’t be good for your kudos right?

2.The Fog (1980) – Little joke for you: Why are pirates called pirates…. Because they arrrrrrrr!

Anyway enough of the rubbish pirate jokes! The Fog is next up on our list, Garrrrrr and it be a pirate film.

A film from the directing legend that is John Carpenter, The Fog sees Spectral seadogs resurface from the deep to wreak vengeance upon the small coastal town of Antonio Bay. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis this is definitely one to raise a chuckle or two.

3.Poltergeist (1981) - One of our personal favourites which is bound to make you jump this Steven Spielberg chiller brings us into the home of a family visited by ghosts.

At first the ghosts appear friendly but as time goes on the family’s world is turned upside down as these evil spirits terrorise and corrupt them.

4. Paranormal Activity (2007) – Another film about ghostly spirits, Paranormal Activity is probably one of the better supernatural films of recent times, filmed handheld camera style the film is effective, heart pounding and suspense filled the whole way through.

5. The Exorcist (1973) – The second of the demonic children films on our list, Linda Blair stars as the head swiveling, crab walking, pea soup puking child that has been possessed by the devil himself.  Creepy!

6. Sixth Sense (1999) - A box office hit back in the day, The Sixth Sense stars Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment as a kid (why is it always a kid?!) that sees dead people. Bruce Willis

7. Drag Me To Hell (1999) – A bit of a marmite film, Drag Me To Hell is about a loan officer who evicts and old woman from her home  and then finds herself taken over by a supernatural curse.

Desperate to be rid of this curse she turns to a seer to remove the curse before it’s too late.

8. HellRaiser (1987) – Let’s be honest this wouldn’t be a supernatural film list unless we had a Clive Barker film up here and HellRaiser is the perfect addition to our list.

HellRaiser tells of an unfaithful wife and the zombie of her dead lover being chased by demons after he escaped from their sado-masochistic hell. Definitely not one for the faint hearted.

9. Constantine (2005) - A tale of heaven and hell, based on the DC/ Vertigo Comic Book Hellblazer, Constantine stars Keanu Reeves as an irreverent supernatural detective who flits between heaven and hell pulling people from hell gates and bringing them back to earth.

10. The Grudge (2004) – Taken from the Japanese original The Grudge, is a story about an American Nurse living and working in Tokyo who is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse that locks a person in a powerful rage before taking their life and spreading the curse to the next victim.
