Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill, the young Brit behind next year's hotly anticipated Superman, and the newest Pirate of the Caribbean Sam Claflin have been named top of LOVEFiLM's Annual British Actor Talent List published today.

Henry Cavill, best known for his role as Charles Brandon in the BBC series The Tudors. He was Stephanie Meyer's first choice for Edward Cullen in the Twilight films until he was deemed too old.

A small set back that could have led to a disastrous nickname ('HCatz') has not stopped him from reaching the sky in the upcoming release of Superman: Man of Steel (2012) as the cape wearing superhero himself.

The actor has landed the role of Clark Kent in Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel, which will be produced by none other than Christopher Nolan.

Sam Claflin has been dropped in the deep end with his big screen debut, starring alongside Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) - but  working with Hollywood royalty in a blockbuster franchise is a sure way to prove he's a movie-star in the making.

The actor has worked mostly in TV in recent years in The Pillars of the Earth as well as Any Human Heart.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is his big screen debut and he has already completed work on United, which stars David Tennant and Dougray Scott, and he is set to star in The Seventh Son.

Third in the list is 14-year-old Asa Butterfield, who already has six years of acting under his belt.

In the 2008 drama The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Asa wowed critics with a heart wrenching performance as Bruno - a performance that earned him a lead role in the new Martin Scorsese film Hugo Cabret, alongside an all star cast of Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Christopher Lee.

Sam Riley grabbed everyone's attention back in 2007 when he took on the role of Ian Curtis in Control.

He has already starred in Brighton Rock this year and will next be seen on the big screen in On The Road.

Luke Evans is also set to enjoy blockbuster success later this year with a remake of The Three Musketeers, in which he takes on the role of Aramis.

Last seen in Tamara Drewe the actor has a busy year as he is also set to star in Blitz and The Raven.

Eddie Redmayne was last seen in The Pillars of the Earth but he is currently filming Hick and has already completed work on My Week With Marilyn.

Tom Sturridge took on the role of Young Carl in That Boat That Rocked back in 2009 and he has Junkhearts and On The Road in the pipeline this year.
