The Great Escape is one of the most popular war movies of all time. Released in 1963 the film follows a group of Allied prisoners of war trying to escape from a German POW camp during the Second World War.
It brought together a well new group of actors but leading the cast was Steve McQueen as rebel Capt Hilts, a cool-mannered American loner, discovers a blind spot in the barbed wire between the two guard towers.
