Felicity Jones

Felicity Jones

We have already taken a look at some of the actors to watch out for in 2014, but there are also going to be some actresses making a name for themselves.

Over the next twelve months we are going to see some up and coming stars take on major blockbuster and dramatic roles in what could be major breakthrough projects.

- Felicity Jones

It has already been an exciting year for British actress Felicity Jones, but 2014 looks set to be even bigger and better.

The first big film that we are set to see her in is The Invisible Woman, which sees her star alongside Ralph Fiennes; he has also directed by the movie.

Jones will play the secret lover of Charles Dickens, and she delivers a fantastic performance.

I saw this movie at the London Film Festival, and Jones is just perfectly cast in this complex and interesting female role.

The biggest role of Jones' career is also on the horizon as she is set to be one of the new faces in The Amazing Spider Man 2. Jones did seem to suggest that she will be playing Felicia Hardy in the film, but that is still to be officially confirmed.

The actress has also completed work on True Story and is currently working on Theory of Everything Eddie Redmayne, Emily Watson and David Thewlis.

- Karen Gillan

Karen Gillan made a name for herself playing feisty Dr Who sidekick Amy Pond, but now she has her sights set on the big screen.

We have seen her in the likes of Not Another Happy Ending this year, but she has one hell of an exciting project on the horizon.

Of course, I am talking about Guardians of the Galaxy, where she is set to play villain Nebula. GOTG is one of two Marvel movies to hit the big screen next year and it will be the first time that we are being introduced to this universe and characters.

Gillan is on a cast list alongside Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro and Glenn Close.

She has also completed work on rom-com The List with Jennifer Morrison and Patrick Fugit.

- Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley made a name for herself back in 2012, when she played George Clooney's daughter in The Descendants. However, she is set to see her star rocket even further next year with the release of Divergent.

Divergent will see Woodley follow in the footsteps of Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence as the latest young adult fiction heroine.

Divergent is the first of three Veronica Roth novels to get the big screen treatment and will see her take on the role of Tris.

This futuristic story will see Tris' life on the line as their divided society is on the verge of war.

This is just one of the projects that we will be seeing Woodley in next year, as she has also completed work on White Bird in a Blizzard and The Fault in our Stars.

- Elizabeth Olsen

Elizabeth Olsen has starred in some terrific movies in recent years with the likes of Martha Marcy May Marlene and Kill Your Darlings already under her belt.

But she is set to announce herself to a much wider audience next year as she steps into the big budget blockbuster for the first time... that blockbuster is Godzilla.

It was back in 1998 that we last saw Godzilla on the big screen, but now he is back on the new Gareth Edwards film.

This looks set to be one of the most exciting films of the summer as Olsen joins a cast list that includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche and David Strathairn.

Olsen is also due to start work on The Avengers: Age of Ultron - which will be the biggest movie of 2015 - as she takes on the role of Scarlet Witch.

- Tuppence Middleton

Tuppence Middleton has been making some waves this year with movies such as Trap for Cinderella under her belt. That is set to continue unto 2014, as she has a series of projects in the pipeline.

The Imitation Game is first up as she is set to star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Mark Strong and Matthew Goode in the new biography.

The movie is set to follow mathematician Alan Turing, as he helps to crack the Enigma code, and will see Morten Tyldum back in the director's chair.

She has also completed work on A Long Way Down - a big screen adaptation of the Nick Hornby novel - and Jupiter Ascending.

Jupiter Ascending is set to be the biggest movies of her career as Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski are back to direct this sci-fi epic.

Other actresses to watch out for next year include Zoë Kravitz, Sally Hawkins, Brie Larson and Mia Wasikowska.
