It was back in 2010 when we saw Mia Wasikowska take on the role of Alice Kingsleigh for the first time in Alice In Wonderland... six years on, and the actress is set to reprise the role in Alice Through The Looking Glass.

Alice Through The Looking Glass

There has been a lot of talk about a sequel to the billion dollar success that was Alice In Wonderland and now we are just a few short weeks away from that sequel hitting the big screen.

Alice Through The Looking Glass is based on the on the book of the same name by Lewis Caroll and sees Wasikowska reunite with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway, as they are set to reprise their roles as the Mad Hatter, the Red Queen, and the White Queen.

Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, and Michael Sheen have once again lent their voices to the characters of the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and the White Rabbit. But this is a film that is tinged with sadness and this is one of the final performances of Rickman, who passed away earlier this year.

While there are plenty of familiar faces and voices in Alice Through The Looking Glass, there are plenty of new names to watch out for as Sacha Baron Cohen, Rhys Ifans, Andrew Scott, and Ed Speelers are some of the big new additions to the cast list.

It is also all change in the director's chair as James Bobin takes over from Tim Burton. Burton is aboard the project and will serve as one of the producers this time around.

Alice Through the Looking Glass is only the third feature film of Bobin's directing career and follows on from the success of The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted in recent years. Needless to say, Alice Through the Looking Glass is the biggest movie of his career to date.

Alice Kingsleigh (Wasikowska) has spent the past few years following in her father's footsteps and sailing the high seas. Upon her return to London, she comes across a magical looking glass and returns to the fantastical realm of Underland and her friends the White Rabbit (Sheen), Absolem (Rickman), the Cheshire Cat (Fry) and the Mad Hatter (Depp), who is not himself.

The Hatter has lost his Muchness, so the White Queen (Hathaway) sends Alice on a quest to borrow the Chronosphere, a metallic globe inside the chamber of the Grand Clock which powers all time. Returning to the past, she comes across friends - and enemies - at different points in their lives, and embarks on a perilous race to save the Hatter before time runs out.

Alice In Wonderland was one of the biggest hits of 2010, are we going to see Alice Through The Looking Glass follow in its footsteps and also gross over $1 billion at the global box office? I guess only time will tell but it is promising to be another big film success.

Alice Through The Looking Glass is released 27th May.
