Black Sea

Black Sea

Jude Law makes his return to the big screen this December as he teams up with director Kevin Macdonald for Black Sea.

Black Sea is promising to be the most claustrophobic action/thriller of the autumn, as it takes us under the waves in the nerve-shredding environment of the submarine.

I am a huge fan of Macdonald as a filmmaker, as he has brought us the likes of The Last King of Scotland, State of Play, and Touching the Void in recent years, and he changes genre again for Black Sea.

The very first clip for the movie has been released, and we have it for you to take a look at:

Law is set to take on the central role of Captain Robinson, alongside Grigoriy Dobrygin, Scott McNairy, Tobias Menzies, Ben Mendelsohn, David Threlfall, and Jodie Whitaker

Black Sea centres on a rogue submarine captain (Law) who, after being laid off from a salvage company, pulls together a misfit crew to go after a sunken treasure rumoured to be lost in the depths of the Black Sea.

As greed and desperation take control on board their claustrophobic vessel, the increasing uncertainty of the mission causes the men to turn on each other to fight for their own survival.

This is only the second feature film outing for Law this year - he was part of the ensemble cast of The Grand Budapest Hotel - but this is his first leading role since he received great reviews for Dom Hemingway last year.

Macdonald is a director who has delivered some terrific character driven movies over the years, and Black Sea is set to continue that fine trend. It also looks like it is going to be a very tense watch as well.

Black Sea is released 5th December.
