Brad Pitt

Our look at best actor/director partnerships continues today as we take a closer look at Brad Pitt and David Fincher projects.

They worked together for the first time back in 1996, and they have made a total of three fantastic films together.

That first project came in the form of Se7en, which remains one of the best crime thrillers in the last twenty years.

Se7en was one of the big early movies of Pitt's career after ha had grabbed everyone's attention in Thelma and Louise.

The film saw him team up with Morgan Freeman as a couple of detectives trying to solve a series of gruesome murders that are linked to the seven deadly sins.

Se7en is a tense and gripping movie from start to finish that showed off both Pitt and Freeman at their best.

The movie was a critical hit when it was released and went on to be a big box office success; it had grossed in excess of $327 million by the end of its theatrical run.

Just three years later Pitt reunited with Fincher for Fight Club; which was a big screen adaptation of the novel by Chuck Palahniuk.

Tyler Durden remains one of Pitt's greatest and most iconic characters of his career so far.

The movie follows Edward Norton and Pitt as they form a 'fight club' - a club that they cannot talk about.

Fight Club was a dark, brutal and violent movie and while it may not have been to everyone's taste it was one of the most talked about movies of 1999.

Not only was it one of the most talked about movies, but it was also one of the best. It has since gone on to achieve cult status, and it a good a movie today as it was nearly fifteen years ago.

Fans of Pitt and Fincher's work had to wait ten years for then to team up for the third, and so far final, time.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button hit the big screen in 2009 and was loosely based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Pitt takes on the role of Benjamin Button, a man who ages in reverse, and the film follows his adventures and the his relationship with Daisy - played by Cate Blanchett.

If you haven't had a chance to check out this film then you really should as it is just wonderful from start to finish.

It picked up thirteen Oscar nominations; including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Pitt.

Pitt and Fincher may have only worked together on three occasions but they have made a trio of wonderful movies. Fingers crossed that we won't have to wait another ten years to see them work together again.

The Lone Ranger is released 9th August.
