Bradley Cooper in The Place Beyond The Pines

Bradley Cooper in The Place Beyond The Pines

Bradley Cooper really is at the top of his game at the moment and 2013 couldn't have started any better for him.

He picked up a Best Actor Oscar nomination - his first from the Academy - for his great performance in Silver Linings Playbook at the end of last year.

While he missed out on the award this movie really did show another side to the actor and he is set to build on it throughout this year.

And he is back on the big screen this week with The Place Beyond The Pines, a movie that sees him team up with Ryan Gosling for the very first time.

Directed and written by Derek Cianfrance the movie follows a motorcycle stunt rider and an ambitious rookie cop who find themselves on a collision course with one another.

The movie is already winning over the critics and it is one of the first must see dramas of the year - are we looking at a movie that is a super early Oscar contender?

The Place Beyond The Pines kicks off a very busy year for the actor as he mixes and matches his roles throughout 2013.

He switches crime/drama for comedy with his next project as he returns to the role of Phil in The Hangover Part III.

The Hangover has turned into a very unexpected franchise but it is brought to a close next month with the third and final instalment.

Todd Phillips is once again in the director's chair while Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha are also back as Alan, Stu and Doug.

Ken Jeong is also back while John Goodman is one of the new faces on the cast list.

This movie sees the Wolfpack on one last crazy adventure as the billion dollar comedy franchise is brought to a close.

There really is a lot of love for The Hangover movies and this third instalment is set to be one of the biggest comedy hits of the year.

Cooper will them move from comedy to a more period piece as he is set to reunite with Jennifer Lawrence for Serena.

Set in Depression-era Carolina the movie follows George and Serena Pemberton, who learn that they cannot have children.

The movie is a big screen adaptation of the novel by Ron Rash and sees Susanne Bier back in the director's chair.

Once again this shows a more serious side to Cooper and it is great to see him back with Lawrence - they really do make a great acting team.

And this is not the final time that we will be seeing them together on the big screen as they have started work on another David O.Russell movie.

Filming has got underway on an as yet untitled movie that will see the Silver Linings Playbook trio back together for another project.

Set in the 1970s the movie is the based on the true story of a con artist and his partner in crime, who were forced to work with a federal agent to turn the tables on other criminals.

Russell has brought together another eye-watering cast as he also reunites with Christian Bale and Amy Adams - who starred in The Fighter - while Jeremy Renner is also on board.

Cooper has also taken over the lead role in Gavin O'Connor's new film James Got A Jun with Natalie Portman and Joel Egerton while a Cameron Crowe movie is also in the pipeline.

Bradley Cooper is one of the most exciting actors working in Hollywood at the moment as he has shown that he is more than just a comedy actor.

The Place Beyond The Pines is released 12th April.
