The Look of Love

The Look of Love

We are excited about Sundance London as some great movies will be coming to our shores for us to check out in one fantastic weekend of film.

Eighteen feature films and nine shorts will be on show over the weekend highlighting some great director and acting talent.

We take a look at some of the British films and talent that are on show during the festival.

The Look of Love - Michael Winterbottom

Michael Winterbottom has always made interesting and intriguing movies and his latest project sees him bring the story of Paul Raymond to the big screen.

The film sees him reunite with actor Steve Coogan while Matt Greenhalgh has penned the script.

The Look of Love tells the true story of British adult magazine publisher and entrepreneur Paul Raymond.

A modern day King Midas story, Raymond became one of the richest men in Britain at the cost of losing those closest to him.

Starring: Steve Coogan, Anna Friel and Imogen Poots.

The Summit - Nick Ryan

We have talked about The Summit already this week as it marks the feature length directorial debut of Nick Ryan.

Ryan has been behind shorts such as The German and A Lonely Sky and now he has tackled a documentary.

Twenty-four climbers converged at the last stop before summiting the most dangerous mountain on Earth.

Forty-eight hours later, 11 had been killed or simply vanished. Had one, Ger McDonnell, stuck to the climbers' code, he might still be alive.

In Fear - Jeremy Lovering

British director Jeremy Lovering makes his feature film directorial debut with In Fear, which is also showing at the festival.

Lovering has had a very successful career in TV with projects such as Sherlock, Vincent and Spooks and now he has made the leap into movies.

The movie will receive it's UK premiere at the festival and is one of the most films to watch out for.

Trapped in a maze of country roads with only their vehicle for protection, Tom and Lucy are terrorized by an unseen tormentor exploiting their worst fears.

Eventually they realize they've let the evil in - it’s sitting in their car.

Starring: Alice Englert, Iain De Caestecker, Allen Leech

Irish Folk Furniture - Tony Donoghue

The short programme is just as exciting as the feature film programme and Irish Film Furniture is one of the Brit projects on show.

The short sees Tony Donoghue return to the director's chair for only his second project - the first being A Film From My Parish: 6 Farms.

The movie has already picked up the Short Film Jury Award: Animation prize at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and now we will be treated to the film.

In Ireland, old hand-painted furniture is often associated with hard times, with poverty, and with a time many would rather forget.

In this animated documentary, 16 pieces of traditional folk furniture are repaired and returned home.

Reindeer - Eva Weber

Eva Weber has made a career out of working on shorts and Reindeer is her latest project.

A lyrical and haunting portrait of reindeer herding in the twilight expanses of the Lappish wilderness.

Sundance London run 25-28 April.
