We haven't had too many musicals hit the big screen this year, but Annie is set to be one to watch out for when it is released in December.

Annie

Annie

If you are looking forward a movie that is going to lift your spirits this festive season then it looks like Annie is going to be the one for you, as this Broadway classic and well known movie is given a new look and sound.

The movie sees Will Gluck return to the director's chair for what is the fourth feature film of his career to date. Gluck has already brought us films such as Easy A and Fired Up! However, this is the first film for the director since Friend with Benefits back in 2011.

This autumn we have seen a whole host of movies that are boasting rather impressive cast lists, and Annie is another that has a line-up to be truly excited by.

Quvenzhané Wallis - who made her breakthrough with Beasts of the Southern Wild - will take on the role of Annie, while Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Cameron Diaz, and Bobby Cannavale are just some of the other great names that will be showing off their singing voices as well as their acting chops.

The brand new international trailer for the movie has arrived, and we have it for you to take a look at:

Annie (Wallis) is a young, happy foster kid who's also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it's been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan ( Diaz).

But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Foxx) - advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Cannavale) - makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in.

Stacks believes he's her guardian angel, but Annie's self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it's the other way around.

Wallis really is an exciting young talent who we haven't seen too much off since the success of Beasts of the Southern Wild. I am really looking forward to seeing her take on her first major lead role in a mainstream American film, and it looks like she is going to be a real hit alongside some more established talent.

Annie is released 20th December.
