Dan Stevens in The Guest

Dan Stevens in The Guest

Dan Stevens is an actor who is well and truly on the rise, with a series of movies heading our way this autumn.

Since leaving behind the role of Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey, he has been focusing on his film work, and the next year is going to be a big one for the actor.

Stevens is back on the big screen this week as he leads the cast in new thriller The Guest: it really does promise to be an exciting and action packed ride.

The Guest sees Stevens take on the central role of former soldier David, as he teams up with director Adam Wingard for the first time.

The movie follows David as he introduces himself to the Petersen family as a friend of their son who has died in action. He is welcomed into the family but s series of accidental deaths start to occur. Is David who he claims to be?

The Guest is a role that we have never seen Stevens tackle before, and I am excited to see him show off his action credentials.

The Guest is just the start, as we are going to be seeing him in A Walk Among The Tombstones and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb before the end of the year.

A Walk Among the Tombstones is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Lawrence Block. Stevens plays a drugs kingpin who calls on the help of private investigator Matthew Scudder (Liam Neeson) after his wife is kidnapped and murdered.

Stevens takes on a more family friendly role at the end of the year, as he is one of the new faces on the cast list of Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is the third film in the popular franchise and will see Larry Daly and co, head to London.

Stevens is set to take on the role of Sir Lancelot in the film - Ben Kingsley and Rebel Wilson are two of the other new faces to watch out for.

Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, and Steve Coogan are all back, while Shawn Levy is once again in the director's chair.

Secret of the Tomb comes five years after Night at the Museum 2, and is set to be another big hit.

Stevens has also completed work on The Cobbler, Criminal Activities, and is currently working on The Ticket.

If you are a fan of Stevens, you really are in for a treat over the next year, as we are going to be seeing plenty of him on the big screen.

He is set to mix and match his roles and films, and his star really is only going one way... of course, that is up.

The Guest is released 5th September.
