Elysium

Elysium

There is no movie that I am more looking forward to this summer than Elysium, as Neill Blomkamp returns to the director's chair.

If you haven't seen Distinct 9 then it is a movie that is not to be missed as it was one of the best directorial debuts of all time.

Blomkamp is back in the director's chair for Elysium in what is his first movie since the success of that 2009 film.

This time around he teams up with Matt Damon for what is going to be another fantastic sci-fi film.

And we have the first clip for the movie for you to check out; Matt Damon is getting quite vexed with a robot.

This is a movie that has been talked about ever since it was announced, such is the excitement around Blomkamp.

District 9 was not only a movie with a great story but it was a film that was on the money with the way that it looked. And you can tell by just looking at the detail in this clip that Elysium is going to look just as fantastic.

Damon is joined on the cast list by Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner and Alice Braga.

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.

Secretary Rhodes (Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium.

That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can.

When unlucky Max (Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

This is a movie that I have been excited about for a very long time and it looks set to be one of the best sci-fi films of 2013.

Elysium is released 21st August.
