Hercules

Hercules

Dwayne Johnson will be back on the big screen this summer as he takes on the title role in Hercules.

This is the second Hercules movie that will hit the big screen this year - The Legend of Hercules being the first this week - and is based on the comic book by Steve Moore and Admira Wijaya.

Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos have penned the screenplay, while Bret Ratner is back in the director's chair.

Johnson kept fans up to date during the filming, but now the first official images have been released by USA Today:

Ratner has brought us movies such as X-Men: The Last Stand and the Rush Hour franchise during his career, but Hercules is the first directorial outing since Tower Heist: he did direct a segment in Movie 42.

This also marks the first time that Ratner has teamed up with Johnson.

A terrific cast has been assembled for the film, as Johnson is joined by Ian McShane, John Hurt, Joseph Fiennes, and Rufus Sewell.

Having enduring his legendary twelve labours, Hercules, the Greek demigod, has his life as a sword-for-hire tested when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord.

Johnson is the perfect choice for Hercules, and I cannot wait to see him bring this iconic character to the big screen.

Hercules is released 8th August.
