Whilst we now know that Daniel Craig will be returning for at least one more James Bond movie, the bookies still reckon it will be his final outing in the role of 007, with some big names leading the pack when it comes to the odds on who will be the next James Bond after the actor. Some of those names are ones that have been banded around for some time, but the frontrunner is a man who’s actually come into proceedings a little later than everybody else! Read on to find out the 5 Actors Who Are Favourites To Replace Daniel Craig As James Bond.
5. Idris Elba
Though Elba has in the past spoken candidly about the role of Bond, admitting he thinks he’s too old to take on the position of being the next Bond, that hasn’t stopped the rumours surrounding him from catching fire. He’s got some big fans, such as iconic filmmaker Steven Spielberg who has suggested the actor should be the one to make history and become the first actor of colour in the role. Still, there are those that think the traditional Ian Fleming description of Bond is one that should be adhered to by movie directors, with Joanna Lumley having stepped out and said that this is the case, despite saying she was “colour-blind” when it comes to casting and the world of acting. Certainly someone we’ll be keeping our eye on, but the ship might have already sailed for Elba with this one.
4. Aidan Turner
Having proven his acting chops in the likes of Poldark and 2015 Agatha Christie adaptation And Then There Were None, the incredibly handsome Aidan Turner became a frontrunner for the role of Bond, and we think he’d be a perfect addition to the roster of talents who have tackled the character in the past. Charming in his approach, looking good in a suit and bringing a mighty presence to the screen, Turner seems like a natural fit for Bond.
3. James Norton
Whether he’s playing the villainous Tommy Lee Royce in BBC drama Happy Valley, or charming Sidney Chambers in ITV’s Grantchester, there’s a certain air surrounding James Norton whenever he hits the screen. He’s somebody who instantly draws the viewer right into the fictional world they’re watching, leaving them on the edge of their seats and unable to guess what his character’s next move may be. These are all the right ingredients for a man who would make an incomporable Bond. Certainly high up on our wishlist!
2. Tom Hardy
Now one of the most recognisable names in the entertainment industry, Hardy is a man who selects his roles carefully and with precision. Currently working on the upcoming Sony Pictures Marvel movie, Venom, he’s in intense training and looks to be getting in the best shape of his life. Following his work on that movie, which is due to drop in 2018, could we see him snapped up by Bond producers? We think they’d be silly not to make their first offer here…
1. Jack Huston
He only seemed to join the race a little earlier this year, but Huston has already rocketed right up in the betting odds and become the firm favourite to take on the 007 mantle when Craig decides his time is over and done with. Reports back in March claimed that Huston was one of producer Barbara Broccoli’s favourite stars of the modern day, so it wouldn’t be surprising to hear of his involvement in some capacity once Craig has exited the series. With the looks and the charm, along with brilliant on-screen chemistry with co-stars as we’ve seen in his previous work, such as Ben-Hur and American Hustle, we think a Bond flick with Huston in the centre of it would be a brilliant piece of cinema. Let’s hope the future’s bright for this star.
