Through all the struggles and surprises of life, you need your girls by your side to help you make it through alive – a support network that Aurore (Agnès Jaoui), in new film I Got Life!, is lucky to have. Arrive in UK cinemas on March 23, this film tells the uplifting tale of a woman going through the ups and downs of life.

Fifty years young and wanting a fresh start, Aurore’s life takes a complete 360 – juggling a divorce, new grandmother duties, and a career change to top it all off – Aurore has the love and support of her best friend Mano (Pascale Arbillot) and her daughters Marina and Lucie.

We love to see women sticking together through the hard times and the good, so in anticipation of I Got Life!’s release, we’ve compiled a list of films with some iconic girl gangs that have graced our screens in recent years, and shown that ladies are more than capable of leading the way in big Hollywood releases!

Whip It

Unsure of where her life was going, Bliss (Ellen Page) knew that it had to go somewhere. Fighting her way out of the puffy pageant dresses and into a pair of skates, she’s determined to achieve her dreams and not let anyone get in her way, particularly not her parents. Her mum may not support her passion for roller derby, but that isn’t going to stop her, especially now that she’s found her tribe of girls who will be by her side every step of the way. This film tells and amazing tale of passion, drive, and friendship – and we can’t get enough of it

Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants

Four girls, one pair of pants. As they prepare to spend their first summer apart, best friends Bridget (Blake Lively), Lena (Alexis Bledel), Carmen (America Ferrera), and Tibby (Amber Tamblyn) rely on an item of clothing to keep them together. Travelling with them across the world and through all their ups and downs, these pants represent the sisterhood and friendship that is shared between them and shows that nothing can break their bond, even if they are thousands of miles away from each other.

Ghostbusters

When there are ghosts flying around town, we know exactly who we’re gonna call. This spin on the iconic 1984 hit film shows Abby (Melissa McCarthy), Erin (Kristen Wiig), Jillian (Kate McKinnon), and Patty (Leslie Jones) coming together as the most kick-ass girl group the world has seen, well, kind of. Using their brains over their biceps, these women have dedicated their lives to the paranormal and are ready to save the city from disaster with their expertise. Displaying courage and strength, these ladies put up a fight and work as a team to get the job done.

Pitch Perfect

hen the aca-gods blessed us with this film in 2012, we were all envious of the girl squad that had appeared before our eyes. Starring Anna Kendrick (Beca) and Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy), this film follows a group of girls all trying to achieve their dreams. From competing in national competitions and creating some crazy remixes, to trying to make it through college and juggling crazy, complicated love lives, these girls definitely share an unbreakable bond and show amazing support for one another no matter what.

The Other Woman

They may potentially be the strangest girl gang on this list, but Carly (Cameron Diaz), Kate (Leslie Mann) and Amber (Kate Upton) have one very important thing in common - their partner. After finding out that they are all in a relationship with the same man, the three women work together behind his back to get their revenge. From adding hair removal cream to his shampoo, to making his dog lick his toothbrush and dunking it in the toilet, these women definitely get the last laugh and create an amazing friendship along the way, proving that when life throws you lemons you can definitely make lemonade.
