God's Pocket

God's Pocket

God's Pocket is one of the movies that has been lighting up the festival circuit so far this year, as John Slattery returns to the director's chair.

Slattery is best known for his work in from of the camera, but he is making the move into feature film with God's Pocket.

He has already directed a whole host of Mad Men episodes, but is now about the make his feature film debut.

God's Pocket sees Philip Seymour Hoffman return to the big screen, in what is one of the final performances from the Oscar winning actor.

We are going to be seeing Hoffman in a series of exciting projects this year, and he is set to turn in another fabulous performance as he teams up with Slattery.

The brand new trailer for the film has been released, and we have it for you to take a look at:

A terrific cast has been assembled for the film, as Christina Henricks, John Turturro, Richard Jenkins, Eddie Marsan and Caleb Landry Jones all star alongside Hoffman.

God's Pocket is based on the novel by Peter Dexter, and has been adapted for the big screen by Alex Metcalf and Slattery himself.

When Mickey’s (Hoffman) crazy stepson Leon is killed in a construction 'accident,' nobody in the working class neighbourhood of God’s Pocket is sorry he’s gone.

Mickey tries to bury the bad news with the body, but when the boy’s mother demands the truth, Mickey finds himself stuck in a life-and-death struggle between a body he can’t bury, a wife he can’t please and a debt he can’t pay.

Slattery is a fine actor in front of the camera, and I am excited to see what he can do from behind it.

There is no UK release date for God's Pocket at the moment.
