Epic

Half term is upon parents and if you are looking for something to do with your kids then there are a whole host of movies for you to enjoy.

So we have put together a guide to the top five movies to see with your kids over the next week - and there really are some films to enjoy.

Epic - U

Epic has hit the big screen this week and is the latest offering from Blu Sky Studios - the team that brought up Ice Age and Rio.

This is a perfect movie for animation fans as it has an exciting story, fascinating characters as well as visually stunning.

A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil is taking place. She bands together with a rag-tag group characters in order to save their world -- and ours.

Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Beyonce, Colin Farrell and Christoph Waltz all lend their voices to the film.

Epic really is terrific family viewing as it is fast paced, action packed and will transport you to another world.

The Croods - U

Another animation movie that you will still be able to catch in cinemas is The Croods - which is the newest film from Dreamworks.

The movie has been a box office smash and is so far one of the biggest grossing movies of the year so far.

The film follows caveman family The Croods as they try and find somewhere new to live after their cave is destroyed.

The Croods tackles the trials and tribulations of what it means to be a family and this delivers a great message about the importance of family.

Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds have all lent their voice to the film and a sequel is already in the pipeline.

All Stars - U

We have been treated to some great British films this year and All Stars is just one of them.

Directed by Ben Gregor this movie really does seem to have captured the imagination of audiences and it has been performing well at the box office.

The movie follows kids Ethan and Jaden who set out to host a dance show in a bid to save the youth centre that they love.

As well as being a feeling that is a lot of fun director Gregor delivers a great social message about the economic times we live in.

All Stars mixes up and coming talent such as Theo Stevenson and Akai Osei-Mansfield with established stars such as Ashley Jensen, and is fun for all the family.

My Neighbour Totoro - U

But if you want to catch a real animation gem then take the kids to see My Neighbour Totoro and introduce them to Studio Ghibli animation movies.

My Neighbour Totoro was released for the first time back in 1988 and is being re-released to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

The film is directed by Hayao Miyazaki and is one of the most magical of all of Studio Ghibli's movie.

It follows two sisters who meet a Totoro and are taken on an amazing adventure where they meet some weird and wonderful creatures.

My neighbour Totoro is a great return to hand drawn animation and it is a joy to behold no matter what your age.

Star Trek Into Darkness - 12A

If you are kids are a little older then there are a couple of blockbusters that are not to missed.

The first is Star Trek Into Darkness as J.J. Abrams returns to the director's chair while Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana return to the franchise.

Kirk and the rest of the crew of the Enterprise are given the task of hunting down one of their own. John Harrison is on a war path and will destroy everything in his way.

Star Trek Into Darkness is a fast paced adventure that will have you on the edge of your seat - not to mention the visual are top draw.

Iron Man 3 - 12A

There is no bigger movie this year than Iron Man 3 as it has already broke the $1 billion barrier; and it needed just three weeks to reach that mark.

The movie sees Robert Downey Jr return to the title character while Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle are also back. There are also some great new additions to the cast list including Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce.

Third time around Iron Man has to do battle with the Mandarin as his personal life is destroyed.

This is the biggest and most daring Iron Man movie yet and director Shane Black really does pull it off.

Epic, The Croods, All Stars, My Neighbout Totoro, Star Trek Into Darkness and Iron Man 3 are all out now.
