The Ice Age movies have been one of the most successful animation franchise of recent years, and a new instalment is on the horizon.

Ice Age: Collision Course

Ice Age: Collision Course

Ice Age: Collision Course is the fifth film in the series and the first since the success of Ice Age: Continental Drift back in 2012. I don't know about you, but it is great to see Sid, Manny and Diego back.

Mike Thurmeier is back in the director's chair for the film and is no stranger to the franchise with Continental Drift and Dawn of the Dinosaurs already under his belt. This time around, he is teaming up with Galen T. Chu, who is making his feature film directorial debut.

John Leguizamo Ray Romano, and Denis Leary reunite to voice the central characters of Sid, Manny and Diego while Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Wanda Sykes, Jennifer Lopez, and Queen Latifah are also back.

Stephanie Beatriz, Adam Devine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, and Nick Offerman are some of the great new names that have been added to the star-studded cast list.

Scrat's epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age World.

To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and embark on a quest full of comedy and adventure, travelling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colourful new characters.

Hard to believe, but it was back in 2002 when the Ice Age franchise hit the big screen for the very first time. The first movie may have been the franchise's least successful but it has been raking in the cash ever since.

The first four films have grossed almost $3 billion at the global box office and Collision Course looks set to be another mammoth hit.

I have always been a fan of the Ice Age franchise and I cannot wait to get swept away on a new adventure, meet some familiar faces as well as some great new characters.

Ice Age: Collision Course is released 29th July.
