Liam James

Liam James is one of the actors who are making a name for himself this year as he is set to burst back onto the big screen with The Way, Way Back.

The Way, Way Back sees the young actor tackle the coming of age drama as he leads an all star cast that includes Steve Carell, Toni Collette and Sam Rockwell.

Throughout his short career James has moved from TV to film tackling comedy, blockbuster and sci-fi projects; making him a very versatile young actor.

Now, at the age of seventeen, he is one of the young stars on the rise that we should all be keeping an eye on over the next few years.

It was back in 2006 when he launched his acting career; as he landed the role of young Shawn Spencer in the TV series Psych.

He stayed with the series of four years appearing in sixty episodes between 2006 and 2010. While he was starring in the show film roles started to come his way.

James made his big screen debut in 2007 with Good Luck Chuck, before going on to Things We Lost In The Fire and Fred Claus.

He tackled the blockbuster for the first time back in 2009 as he landed the role of Noah Curtis in 2012. The movie saw him work with director Roland Emmerich, while John Cusack was also on the cast list.

After leaving Psych, he continued to juggle TV and film work as roles in Fringe and The Killing followed.

While he was only in one episode of Fringe, he landed the role of Jack Linden in The Killing; the son of the main character Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos).

This week he is back on the big screen as he takes on the central character of Duncan in The Way, Way Back; a film that sees him team up with directors Nat Faxon and Jim Rash.

The Way, Way Back is the funny and poignant coming of age story of 14-year-old Duncan’s (James) summer vacation with his mother, Pam (Collette), her overbearing boyfriend, Trent (Carell), and his daughter, Steph (Zoe Levin).

Having a rough time fitting in, the introverted Duncan finds an unexpected friend in gregarious Owen (Rockwell), manager of the Water Wizz water park.

Through his funny, clandestine friendship with Owen, Duncan slowly opens up to and begins to finally find his place in the world - all during a summer he will never forget.

The critics have already been raving about the movie and The Way, Way Back looks set to be one of the best coming of age dramas that we have seen for some time.

The movie also looks set to thrust Liam James onto the international movie stage as praise continues to pour in for his central performance. There is one way that James’ career is going… and that is u p!!

The Way, Way Back is released 28th August.
