Lost Rivers

Lost Rivers

Director: Caroline Bacle

Rating: 4.5/5

The UK Green Film Festival has been packed with great female documentary filmmakers, including Caroline Bacle.

So far, Bacle is best known for her short and TV work, but Lost Rivers marks her feature film directorial debut: this is a project that she also penned.

Once upon a time, in almost every city, many rivers flowed. Why did they disappear? How? And could we see them again?

This documentary tries to find answers by meeting visionary urban thinkers, activists, and artists from around the world.

Have you ever wondered what lies beneath the city streets? Well, Bacle explores exactly what lies down below, and how many of those rivers that have been destroyed and lost over the years.

Bacle takes us all over the globe as we are taken on the hunt for Petite rivière St-Pierre in Montreal and the Garrison Creek in Toronto - it really is an exciting watch as we search for the past.

From start to finish, Lost Rivers is an interesting and rather exciting look at how city building has been packed with errors, and how we have lost incredible parts of the natural world because of it.

Bacle takes us into a world that we know nothing about, and the underground rivers that the film explores are nothing short of beautiful.

The visuals really are incredibly striking as we are taken on an informative and fascinating adventure. I loved it from start to finish.

Lost Rivers is part of the UK Green Film Festival.
