Love & Mercy is set to hit the big screen next week and will be a welcome break from all the big budget blockbusters and a great injection of biopic drama.

Love & Mercy

Love & Mercy

Love & Mercy has already enjoyed critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival and I cannot wait to see John Cusack and Paul Dano back on the big screen.

Cusack and Dano are set to play an older and younger version of Beach Boy star Brian Wilson at two very different periods in his life. I have been a fan of Cusack for many years, while Dano is one of the most exciting and versatile young actors around.

Love & Mercy is one of the off-beat summer movies that I have been looking forward to the most... and with less than a week to go until the film hits the big screen, we have a series of great new clips for you to take a look at:

We have already been treated to some great cast lists so far this summer and Love & Mercy boasts a line-up that will not disappoint.

As if having Cusack and Dano wasn't exciting enough, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Giamatti, and Jake Abel are all also on board, while Bill Pohlad is back in the director's chair.

This will mark only the second feature film of Pohlad's career to date - he made his debut with Old Explorers back in 1990 - and it is great to see him finally make his directorial return.

Love & Mercy presents an unconventional portrait of Brian Wilson, the mercurial singer, songwriter and leader of The Beach Boys. Set against the era defining catalogue of Wilson's music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost.

I have to admit that I am a huge fan of the biopic film and Love & Mercy looks set to delve into the life of Wilson like never before. It really does look like it will be a fascinating and heart-breaking journey.

Love & Mercy is released 10th July.
