Blockbuster 2012 has stormed to the top of the UK box office knocking animation A Christmas Carol off the top spot.
The movie is directed by Roland Emmerich, the man behind Independence and The Day After Tomorrow, and brings together a cast of John Cu sack, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover.
2012 is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.
With a gross of £6.4 million the movie comfortably took the number spot, it's also number one in America, and A Christmas Carol had to settle for number two.
The animation did gross a further £2.5 million this weekend. Harry Brown was the only other new entry inside the top ten.
The movie sees Michael Caine return to the big screen as an elderly ex-serviceman and widower who looks to avenge his best friend's murder by dealing out his own form of justice.
Up fell one place to four while The Men Who Star At Goats also dropped one place from four to round off the top five.
This week's biggest faller came in the form of Michael Jackson's This Is It as it fell five places from five to seven.
