There has been more success for Roland Emmerich's 2012 as it topped the Australian box office this week.
Grossing just over $6 million the movie easily saw off the Time Traveler's Wife for the top spot, following in the footsteps of the U.S and the UK where the film is also number one.
The Time Traveler's Wife, which is an adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's 2003 novel held onto the second spot. There was also no move at three as A Christmas Carol hung tough.
But after dominating the box office Michael Jackson's This Is It's reign came to an end as it dropped three places to four.
A second new entry, in the form of The Boys Are Back, rounded off the top five. Starring Clive Owen the movie is a true story of a man who must suddenly raise his two sons alone after the untimely passing of his second wife.
The ill-prepared Joe, who is dealing with his own loss, is confronted with the daily challenges of parenthood while coping with his young son Artie's expressions of grief.
They soon are joined by Harry, Joe's teenage son from his first marriage, who brings his own personal "baggage" into the mix.
Amelia was the only other entry inside the top ten at eight. Directed by Mira Nair and starring Hilary Swank the movie is a biopic picture about Amelia Earhart.
Couples Retreat, The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus and The Final Destination all fell three places.
