Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku are being lined up to star in the new 'Ghostbusters' movie.

Dan Aykroyd - who starred in and co-wrote the first two action comedy films - has revealed he hopes to get the duo to star in the latest film of the franchise, which he is currently working on.

He said: "I think they're amazing. And I', excited about the whole idea of getting this done."

Now we're at a point that there's a story that he can accept and that's going to work, and I think we're going to be in production fairly soon. We could be in production by winter.

Alyssa - who starred in the US supernatural series 'Charmed' -recently voiced a part in the new 'Ghostbusters' video game.

Meanwhile, Dan says it took some work to persuade Bill Murray to sign up to the upcoming instalment.

He told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: "I don't put not making the third movie on Billy. We can't do that. I've been very busy. Harold Ramis has been busy, the director Ivan Reitman been busy. And a third script really didn't coalesce properly. And Billy, you can't blame an artist for not wanting to do the same thing again. He did two of them, for God's sake. Although I'm the biggest cheerleader as the originator of the concept but I've never begrudged Billy not doing a third movie.

The original Ghostbusters - a group of parapsychology professors offering a ghost removal service - were Bill's character Peter Venkman, Harold's Egon, and Ray Stantz, played by Dan. They were later joined by Winston Zeddmore, played by Ernie Hudson.
