Amy Adams has hinted that the character of Lois Lane will be completely re-imagined for Man Of Steel.

The actress will step into the big budget blockbuster next year as Superman returns to the big screen.

The Oscar nominated actress will star alongside Henry Cavill while Zack Snyder will be in the director's chair.

And while we have seen many interpretation of Lane over the years Adams says she and Snyder have brought a new twist to the character.

Speaking to USA Today the actress said: "This was a new idea, down to the hair colour. I knew people would want to talk about my hair colour. It was going to be a thing.

"Zack told me he didn't hire me to play someone else. He hired me to play Lois Lane. It's a whole re-imagining."

An all star cast has been assembled for Man of Steel as Adams and Cavill are joined by Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane.

But the actress is currently promoting her new movie Trouble With The Curve - which sees her team up with movie legend Clint Eastwood.

And it has been a busy year for the actress as she has also completed work on Her and Lullaby.

Man Of Steel is released 14th June.
