The Vatican's official newspaper has called new Dan Brown movie Angels & Demons 'harmless entertainment.'
The reviewer from the L'Osservatore Romano wrote: "[It offers] more than two hours of harmless entertainment, which hardly affects the genius and mystery of Christianity... [It's a] video game that first of all sparks curiosity and is also, maybe, a bit of fun,"
The article went on to call the movie 'gripping' and 'splendid' but it did criticise the movie's historical inaccuracies and stereotyped characters.
Back in 2006 the Vatican made no comment about movie The Da Vinci Code.
This comes just days after Ron Howard accused the Vatican of deliberately obstructing the filming of his new movie Angels & Demons when they were shooting in Rome.
Angels & Demons is the second book by Dan Brown to be adapted for the big screen, after the success of The Da Vinci Code, and sees Tom Hanks return to the role of Robert Langdon.
2006's The Da Vinci Code which was criticised by the Roman Catholic Church due to controversial interpretations and factual inaccuracies of Christian history, it did however go on to gross over $758 million when it was released.
Angels & Demons is released 14th May.
