Sir Anthony Hopkins wants to play Simon Cowell in a movie.

The 'Silence of the Lambs' star is a huge fan of the music mogul's hit TV talent search show 'American Idol' and would love to make a film based on the hit programme.

He said: "We are 'American Idol' addicts in my house. Simon is my favourite because he's so brutally honest. There's no political correctness with him. He says it as it is."

The actor then began an impersonation of the judge - famed for his cutting comments - to prove he would be perfect for a potential movie role.

Randy Jackson, Simon's fellow panellist on the show, seemed pleased with Anthony's proposal - and even had ideas about who could be cast as him.

He joked: "I'm a huge Anthony Hopkins fan. Let's do it. I'm not gonna say this, but it's been said that I resemble Will Smith meets Denzel Washington, so ..."
