Shekhar Kapur replaces Minghella

Shekhar Kapur will take over directing duties on one of the late Anthony Minghella's final projects.Minghella asked Kapur to helm a segment he had written and was set to direct for upcoming movie 'New York - I Love You' just two days before he went into surgery for cancer of the neck and tonsils.Kapur said: "He told me his film was about the value of life, and how people sometimes just throw away their lives unable to look beyond into the real beauty of it. I will direct the film now - with Anthony in my heart and in presence of his soul." 'New York - I Love You' is a series of short love stories based on New York helmed by various directors, including Scarlett Johansson making her debut behind the camera.Minghella - who died of complications following the operation last week - had not yet cast his section of the feature and filming was due to begin in April.
