Arthur Christmas has topped the UK box office, four weeks after it was first released.

The animation movie brings The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1's two week reign to an end as it took £1.8 million this weekend.

Arthur Christmas is directed by Sarah Smith and boasts an all star voice cast that includes James McAvoy, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Laurie.

It was animation all the way in the top two this week as Happy Feet Two was the highest new entry at number two.

The movie, which sees George Miller back in the director's chair, comes five years after the release of the first.

Breaking Dawn - Part 1 fell two places to this week's number three as it took a further £1.6 million.

Martin Scorsese's new movie Hugo was new at number four while The Thing was the third and final new entry in the chart this week at five.

My Week with Marilyn, which could see Michelle Williams bag an Oscar nomination, fell three places to six while The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn was also down three at seven.

50/50 was down two places this week at eight but Immortals was the biggest faller as it dropped from five to nine.

Dream House rounded off the top ten after a three place drop from number seven.
