Battle: Los Angeles

Battle Los Angeles has followed up it's success in the U.S. over the weekend by also topping the UK box office.

The movie was one of three new entries inside the top ten this week as it toppled Rango to claim the number one spot.

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman and starring Aaron Eckhart the movie follows a Marine platoon faces off against an alien invasion in Los Angeles.

The film took £1.7 million in it's opening weekend to topple animation movie Rango from the top spot after only a week.

Rango slipped just a single place to number two while action movie Unknown, which sees Liam Neeson return to the big screen, remained at number three.

The Adjustment Bureau fell two places to number four and new entry Hall Pass rounded off the top five.

The movie is the newest comedy from the Farrelly brother and stars Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Christina Applegate.

The King's Speech was down one at six, the movie has now spent ten weeks inside the top ten. Paul was this week's biggest faller as it dropped three places to seven.

Gnomeo & Juliet was down two and Fair Game, which reunites Sean Penn with Naomi Watts, was the final new entry inside the top ten this week.

West Is West fell a single place to round off the top ten.
